The award-winning documentary, “The State of Texas v. Melissa Lucio,” by Sabrina van Tassel, examines the disturbing issues with Melissa’s conviction and her compelling innocence claim. In 2019, her death sentence was overturned because she lacked a fair trial, but later it was reinstated. Texas is determined to execute this mother and domestic violence survivor on April 27, 2022, but the Free Melissa Lucio campaign is fighting to stop the execution.
