Nerd Nite Tucson
Tickets: $3
Thursday September 28th at 7pm
Our first presentation for September is composting capitalism through Community Gardening, presented by Ai!
Ai is a community gardener, intuitive medium (yup, that’s right), LOVES being in Tucson, and does some other stuff in academia. They are fascinated by being and existence, and especially the intimate rhythms of the relationships of life and death.
In the late 1960’s, James and Betsy McDonald fought for truth and justice against Tucson’s most powerful institutions: The University of Arizona and the U.S Air Force. He was a physicist hellbent to prove that Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) were a worthy field of scientific inquiry. She was a committed anti-war activist and community organizer. When you go up against immovable forces, however, there is a cost. For James, it would be his undoing.
UFOs, Titan II Missiles, COINTELPRO, social justice, and science. It’s all here in this incredible true story, told live right here in Downtown Tucson!
What is Nerd Nite?
We all know learning is more fun when you’re drinking with friends. Thus, Nerd Nite is a monthly event held in 100+ cities (like Tokyo, Miami, London, Fargo, and New York) during which folks give 20 minute fun-yet-informative presentations across all disciplines – while the audience drinks along! There are often bands, trivia, and other shenanigans as well. Imagine learning about math feuds, the emu war of Australia, the genealogy of Godzilla, or zombie insects, while having a few.
